I have been in the mental health field since 2003. In 2013, I stumbled into a pole fitness class, got hooked and eventually became a certified group fitness instructor. Over the next 10 years, I came to recognize how movement positively impacted my mental well-being professionally and personally.
I dealt with periods of unemployment, being overcommitted, caregiving stress, broken relationships, grief, mid-life crisis, financial stress.... You know how life is. But it was during those periods of high stress, that faith and movement gave me the much needed boost to push through those low points. Mindset and movement.
Increased confidence, improved mood, and reduced stress were just some of the positive emotional benefits of my activity. Getting moving helped me navigate grief experiences, manage the emotional ups and downs of caregiving, and improve mental efficiency.
Increased self-awareness was also a significant benefit of getting active. Listening to my body became essential to understanding where I was holding stress and how I needed to move.
That physical self-monitoring translated to emotional self-monitoring in my every day experiences. I gained greater clarity on my needs propelling me to act with more purpose and intention in my daily life.
PsyCore Fitness is not about exercising to "look better," but MOVING TO FEEL BETTER and BE BETTER.
